History of Hospital Accreditation in Taiwan

Taiwan is the fourth country that started the accreditation project in the world and the first one in Asia.

Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation which is sponsored by the Department of Health, the Executive Yuan launched on-site accreditations on district hospitals in 1999. It mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care in Taiwan’s hospitals through hospital accreditation.

In order to prove it has reached the international level of executing accreditation and improving healthcare quality, Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation passed the rigorous on-site survey and accreditation standards review conducted by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) in 2006 and 2007. It is the first certified accreditation organization in Asia.
