Medical Team
The Transplant Center is a multi-disciplinary center with staff mainly coming from the Departments of General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Urology, Nephrology, and Cardiac Surgery. Ancillary support also comes from the Department of Nursing and transplantation-related professions. The established transplantation specialties are liver and kidney. The liver transplant team is led by Dr. Yaw-Sen Chen; and the kidney transplantation team is headed by Dr. Tsan-Jung Yu and Dr. Fua-Pin Wang.
Summary
Transplantation is one of the hospital's key development areas. The hospital established the Transplantation Center with vision geared for the development each transplantation specialty in liver, kidney, heart, and other solid organs. It provides comprehensive medical care for all donors and recipients. This comprehensive care is provided by a multi-disciplinary medical team. October, 2005
E-Da Hospital was certified by the Taiwan Department of Health to perform kidney transplantation.
August, 2006
E-Da Hospital was certified by the Taiwan Department of Health to perform deceased donor and living donor liver transplantations.
28th of December, 2006
E-Da Hospital successfully performed one liver transplantation and two kidney transplantations. These were the first transplant operations done in E-Da Hospital. The organs were from deceased donors. Three patients benefited from the liver and two kidneys.
27th of April, 2007
E-Da Hospital performed its second liver transplantation and its 3rd and 4th kidney transplantations. The organs were from deceased donors. All recipients were discharged well from the hospital.
E-Da Hospital successfully completed the first liver and kidney transplantation in less than three years after its public opening. Its successful liver and kidney transplantations provided a new phase in the development of medical services in southern Taiwan particularly in regional hospitals of Kaohsiung County. Patients now have a new choice on which transplant center they want to be operated on.
The excellent transplantation team of E-Da Hospital is able to promote service quality of the hospital and advance patients' welfare in the southern area. It supports the organ donation drive of the public and hopes to improve the quality and length of life among patients needing transplantation. This lets love and life uninterrupted.
